Every Dollar Makes A Difference

For the third year in a row, the team at the Craig Medicaid Office collaborated to raise funds to support our Red Rose Program. Many of the employees have been personally affected by breast cancer and they are committed to annually support Red Rose. This year they raised $1,913 dollars!  

Last year, the gift from the Medicaid office helped patients like Clara. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Clara sent her teenage grandchildren to live with relatives out of state for seven months while she underwent surgery and chemotherapy. She had been their legal custodian since they were infants, and they were the center of her life. Unable to keep working, she took a leave from her job as a casino housekeeper and moved into a single room to reduce expenses. In August, with rent and utility assistance from the R.E.D. Rose Program, she was able to reunite her family, move into a new apartment, and begin radiation treatment. Two months later, Clara was strong enough to return to work and is now able to see her grandchildren grow up.
